PMT, New analytical framework for automated evaluation of geo-environmental modelling approaches

An automated and a comprehensive validation system, which includes both the cutoff-dependent and –independent evaluation criteria for spatial modelling approaches, has not yet been developed for GIS based methodologies. This study, for the first time, aims to fill this gap by designing and evaluating a user-friendly model validation approach, denoted as Performance Measure Tool (PMT), and developed using freely available Python programming platform.

Assessing and monitoring the soil quality of forested and agricultural areas using soil-quality indices and digital soil-mapping in a semi-arid environment

In recent decades, the conversion of forest to agricultural land has been a major worldwide concern and a cause of environmental and soil-quality degradation. In this study, soil-quality indices were applied using several soil properties to determine the effects of land use on soil quality in a 206.50 km2 area in Kurdistan Province, Iran.

Distribution of linear alkylbenzenes as a domestic sewage molecular marker in surface sediments of International Anzali Wetland in the southwest of the Caspian Sea, Iran

Due to directly receiving high volume of untreated urban and industrial sewage, the International Anzali Wetland has been considered to be urgently registered in the Montreux Record. Hence, the present study was aimed to determine the spatial distribution of the linear alkylbenzenes in surface sediments of the wetland and its sewage contamination situation.

Linear Alkylbenzenes in Wetland

Hence, the present study was aimed to determine the spatial distribution of the linear alkylbenzenes in surface sediments of the wetland and its sewage contamination situation.

Development and analysis of the Soil Water Infiltration Global database

In this paper, we present and analyze a novel global database of soil infiltration measurements, the Soil Water Infiltration Global (SWIG) database. In total, 5023 infiltration curves were collected across all continents in the SWIG database. These data were either provided and quality checked by the scientists who performed the experiments or they were digitized from published articles.

Evaluating desertification using remote sensing technique and object-oriented classification algorithm in the Iranian central desert

The purpose of this study is to investigate the land use change trends in Yazd-Ardakan plain using remote sensing method from 1986 to 2016 and Landsat satellite images and emphasizing the object-oriented classification method. In this research, Landsat satellite images for 1986, Landsat for 1999 and 2010, and Landsat 8 for 2016 were used.

Assessing the effects of slope gradient and land use change on soil quality degradation through digital mapping of soil quality indices and soil loss rate

This study evaluated the effects of slope and land use on the quality of agricultural land in Kurdistan Province. This was done using three indices (SQIa, SQIn, and SQIw), two scoring methods, and the TDS and MDS approaches for calculating them. K, pH, P, MWD, and CEC were the properties selected for the MDS using PCA analysis.
